The journey of True Island® began when our founder, Leilani, started struggling with sensitive skin issues as an adult. After years of trial and error with conventional skincare products full of harsh synthetic chemicals, she found that nothing fully resolved her skin concerns.
Desperate for true healing, Leilani turned to the ancient botanical wisdom of her native Hawaiian ancestors. She dove deep into research on the most potent plant medicines that the islands had to offer. Leilani worked closely with master botanists and herbalists to formulate a natural skincare regimen using ingredients like:

Meet Our Founder
True Island® was started by native Hawaiian skincare visionary, Leilani. After struggling for years with sensitive skin issues, Leilani discovered the incredible healing potential of potent botanicals sourced from her island home. Inspired to share what she learned, Leilani launched True Island® on a mission to bring the magic of Hawaii’s nature to all who need healing.
Leilani was raised on the island of Kauai by parents who practiced ancestral Hawaiian herbal medicine. She grew up immersed in the botanical wisdom that allowed native islanders to thrive for centuries in perfect harmony with the land.
Though Leilani initially pursued a career in environmental science, her skin health challenges led her back to the traditional plant medicines of her youth. The more she studied and experimented with pure, potent Hawaiian botanicals, the more her skin transformed.
Now Leilani is committed to sharing the gift of the islands through True Island®. All of our formulas are crafted under her close consultation to ensure each bottle delivers the utmost skin-healing magic direct from Hawaiian nature. When she isn’t working on new True Island® product blends, Leilani enjoys surfing, hiking island trails, and spending time with her husband and two daughters in Hawaii.

Our Production
From harvesting to production to packaging, everything about True Island® products respects the precious ingredients and island home we source from. Our small-batch production takes place right in Hawaii at our Kauai headquarters.
We are hands-on with crafting each formula, never outsourcing our production offshore. Our botanicals are always sourced directly from local Hawaiian farmers then steam distilled, cold pressed, or extracted into potent blends within days of harvest for unrivaled freshness. State-of-the-art equipment allows us to expertly control the extraction process to obtain each ingredient’s highest concentration of skin-enhancing actives.
Our formulas are then carefully blended, tested for quality assurance, and packaged by hand in small batches by our Hawaii team. You’ll never find mass quantities sitting around in warehouses. We want to deliver the islands’ precious gifts to your skin at peak potency.
